Matt Lombardino, Madison soccer training drills

Matt Lombardino

General Manager - Matt has managed indoor soccer since 1984. He has coached and played at many levels of soccer. Formerly a Captain of Madison Memorial High School Boys Varsity Soccer and Hockey Teams. Also a former player for the UW-Madison and Madison 56ers - Majors. As a coach, Matt is a former director of UW-Madison Badger and Premier Goalkeeping Camps, former coach for Madison Memorial H.S. and goalkeeping coach for Edgewood College. Graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Physical Education and Exercise Physiology. Matt enjoys a variety of sports and activities including UW sports, GB Packers, playing golf (seldom and poorly) and spending time with his family.

Matti Sahel

Director of Marketing - Matti has had a passion for the sport of soccer ever since he was three years old. After playing recreational soccer until the age of ten, he began his club career with Princeton Soccer Club (PSC) and played with them for two years. Following PSC, Matti then continued to play club soccer for Madison FC for the next five years helping his u18 team to a second place finish in State Cup in 2007. Throughout high school, Matti also achieved success through soccer. He was a three year varsity letter winner at Madison East High School (in 2005 he even played with Jamie Laabs) and helped his school achieve its first ever WIAA State Soccer Tournament appearance in 2006. Following his graduation from Madison East in 2007, Matti committed to Grinnell College where he was a four year varsity letter winner.  He was a part of the first Grinnell College men’s team to make it to the NCAA DIII National Tournament in school history in 2009. Matti proceeded to graduate from Grinnell College in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.  Besides playing soccer, Matti enjoys going to the movies, hopelessly cheering on Arsenal FC, and listening to informative & hilarious podcasts.

Jamieson Laabs

Director of Operations - Jamieson has been part of the Break Away Team since 2009. He is an avid lover of soccer and has been playing since the age of 10. He attended East High School and played 3 years of varsity soccer (1 year with Matti Sahel). He played intramural soccer while at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and after college continued playing in Madison’s adult leagues. Jamie follows European club soccer, especially the "big 5" leagues (Premiership, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, & Ligue 1) & Champion's League. Arsenal is his team. Besides loving the beautiful game, he also enjoys golf, basketball, and Formula 1 racing. His other passion besides sports is music.  He is also a happy dog dad to his Yellow Lab, Lou.
